A native of West Virginia, Carol and her husband, Gil, found a home in Bow Lake that suits their on-the-go lifestyle. Growing up (in “a holler”, as she fondly refers to it), Carol comes from a long line of West Virginians – in fact, her 4th great grandfather was Stonewall Jackson.

“We still travel back and forth to West Virginia because our families are back there. Bow Lake is close to the airport, which is nice. When we travel, the mail comes through the slot; I can leave for a month at a time——there’s no grass to cut and the lady next store waters the flowers for me…its perfect!”

Speaking of flowers, Carol’s cozy garden is the scene of many dinners and card games with neighbors and family. “We have some really good friends and we do a lot with them.”

One of the things Carol and her husband like best about Bow Lake is the sense of security it gives them. Because it’s a gated community, Carol feels comfortable taking frequent walks along the lake and around the community. “ Every dog in the park knows me,” she says with a smile.
