For LaJuanna and Sam, moving from their 5-acre spread on Whidbey Island to Bow Lake didn’t mean they had to leave their old life behind. They took it with them.

As you approach their home, a romantic grape-vine twists gracefully on the overhead trellis. And a deck accented by blooming roses gives you a hint about the couple who lives here.

An avid green thumb, LaJuanna brought a truckload of hydrangea, rhododendron and grape cuttings from her previous garden to start a new eden in SeaTac. “I planted a 100 hydrangea in the back, thinking that half might make it. Well I think 99 did!” Needless to say, LuJuanna and Sam now have one of the most talked-about yards in the neighborhood. And the larger community has taken note of it, too. In fact, LuJuanna’s garden recently won an award from a Seattle Times contest.

Tending to their home has always been a priority for Sam and LaJuanna. The fact that their neighbors and management feel the same level of commitment was one of the reasons they chose to live at Bow Lake. Sam says, “Bob Mayfield has got to be the best manager I’ve ever seen.

“One thing I liked about Bow Lake after looking at other communities is that they have rules and regulations about the homes and are working to bring newer units in.” It shows they care about this place as much as we do, he explains.

Sitting in their living room, enjoying a view that frames their rosebushes – and stretches for miles beyond—Sam And LuJuanna say they’ve definitely found their perfect home.
