Tom & Barry – Resident Profile

“One of the nice things about living here is you can leave your house and not worry about it.”

Tom and Barry: traveling men

Texas transplant, Tom, and Seattle native, Barry, have had a home at Bow Lake for 6 years, though it seems like most of it has been spent on the road. “In just the last year we’ve been to Hawaii, Palm Springs, Eastern Washington, Long Beach, and Canada.”

Getting away is easy. With a smaller yard and lower maintenance need, the simplicity of living in a manufactured home park works well for these two. Barry remarks, “One of the nice things about living here is you can leave your house and not worry about it.”

Tom says Bow Lake’s proximity to rapid transit is a big attraction as well. “We appreciate being close to the light rail and take it into town a lot. It’s very convenient, we just walk right over there.”

When they are in town they don’t slow down a bit. Barry notes, “In addition to spending time with friends, I volunteer at the Seattle Veterans Museum and I belong to the Retired Teachers Association. We are busy and active.”

When it is time for a break, Tom prefers to lose himself in his garden, “I personally like the yard work, I find it very relaxing. In this particular lot here, we have a lot of space in the back yard.”

Having lived in another adult community, Tom and Barry have a special appreciation for Bow Lake. “The grounds are beautifully maintained, they’ve invested a lot of money so we know it’s a long term thing.”
